OR Weather for 10/30 and Cold Advisory

Howdy folks! As we draw upon the event it's important to know what we're in for. If you said "Freezing because it's Fall in New Hampshire, you win a prize! Let's go to the numbers here.

Friday night will be rough. We're expecting an overnight low of 30, with a constant breeze and a very small sliver of moon. So it will be very cold and very dark. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR THIS. The cabins are not exactly stellar in the heating dept. So whatever sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, electric blankets, hand warmers, coerced moose, etc. You have are a good call.

No Space Heaters (As a reminder.)

Saturday is a sunny day, high of 48 no rain in sight. Get in the sun while you can because it will drop down to 31 at night. It won't really get much better than this so again, prepare for a very cold event

Sunday wraps up with a nice high of 51 and a partly cloudy outlook. So as per usual the best day comes at the end.

Thankfully we're very much low on the chance of precipitation, however we have cold and dark. (Below freezing means ice, and frozen mud from earlier in the day, oh boy!)

I know that almost all of us have cold weather larped before, but some really good tips I've found just as reminders. These are matters of heath, and safety!

-Drink water! Dehydration has no set temperature, drink it PLEASE.

- Also hot drinks and like coffee, tea, ciders and glorious soups will help warm the core.

-On that note, use the bathroom! (Seriously, peeing removes excess fluid your body needs to heat up, it will keep you warmer if you use the bathroom regularly. Gross but true)

-Cover exposed skin (That's where the heat gets out) Gloves, hats, ear muffs, face wraps) these will all help in addition to a strong, layered core.

-If it's wet, dry it! Wet anything (often from sweat) is a fantastic way to lose body heat. Have changes of clothes you expect to get sweaty (under-layers, hats, gloves and socks are the biggest offenders here.) You should pack more socks, right now, seriously i'll wait. We usually have a fire going in the tavern and nobody will fault you for drying off your gloves when you come back in.

-Weapons in cold temperatures tend to become less pliable and hit harder, it isn't uncommon for a weapon exposed to the cold to leave a heavier hit than expected, so please check your swings especially in cooler weather.

-Go on mods faster! Seriously, if there is a module outside you often have poor frozen NPC's waiting to warm up by killing you. If at all possible hustle to warm them with your beatings! The sooner you do, the sooner both sides get to return to warm places and recuperate.

As of course, if you don't feel well or if you notice someone else isn't doing well. Say so, and get warm. Shivering, confusion, clumsiness, and the feeling of being cold, then not without a warming agent are all bad things. Better safe than sorry it's better to be over cautious than dealing with a medical emergency.
