This was a rough, rough event for poor Mr. St. Francis, but it also had some really amazing moments for me. First off, my apologies to everyone who had to deal with my horribly allergy stricken voice and eyes. I was on the border of not going to game on Friday, and decided to suck it up and go.
And I am very glad that I did.
So, in no particular order, personal favorite moments:
- "Y'all picked the wrong mansion, 2 Damage, 2 damage!" Waking up to the sound of bugs vs shotguns was awesome, and it was more awesome to realize that I already had my rifle in my hands and was taking aim by the time my brain actually woke up. I had not been cabin-raided in years, but I was happy to have the shared cabin we did.
- The entire Ghostwriter plotline. Every scene has been excellent, and has been a wonderful source of RP from people whom I do not otherwise interact with that much.
- That terrible moment in the field where JD and Ness admitted to spreading the Wendigo, and Billy's heart broke. Because it meant he failed, both the tribe and his friends.
- Telling Alice that she just succeeded at being a shaman better than most Shamans. And being honest!
- That entire Power Plant mod. I was given such hard to interpret information, and I am genuinely happy that I did not accidentally get anyone permed. It was filled with so many moments for me. JD turning. Realizing that the bugs would just keep coming, and getting backed into the corner. Getting taken, only to discover (unconsciously) that the bugs can't do anything to me. Waking up, crawling into the machine gun nest only to discover that there was an entire wall which had to be copied, and this was going to be a lot longer than I had hoped. The last three people you'd expect taking rubbings of that wall. Gil's "I'm a professor!" moment, then leaving us to man the machine gun. Getting the job done and the fight to the elevator. Carrying Ethan out to the elevator only to get double shot while there. Waking up on the outside, handing the papers to the professor, and going back in. That last elevator ride down, only to find out we brought one too many people... and then Ethan stepped off...
Seriously. That entire mod was fantastic. Thank you to Gabriel, Alice, Bob, Mr. Jones, Mason, Michael Strife, Gil, Leo, Ethan, Ed, Nick Sleet, the neon blue hacker street samurai woman whose name I have never learned, and all the other amazing PCs, and the amazing staff for that mod.
- The scenes with Dr. Zinc, Corvus, the White Lady, and Jacob that that mod directly caused.
- In a less serious note... "The Mells!" It's the new dance sensation which drives off bears... and everyone else!
- "You sure have big, angry wildlife here." "Radiation." "is that true?" "Nope."
- And thank you also to everyone who showed up for the First Nations Meet & Greet. And if you want to learn more about the real life information I am using for a lot of the "First Nations Embassy Activism" information I am providing, see here:
http://culturalpolitics.net/social_movements/indianI draw a lot of it from personal knowledge, but that website is also an excellent resource.
Thank you all for an amazing game, and I am looking forward to Halloween. Also, hopefully, to a DPL Picnic that I will actually be able to attend.
