Favorite Moments 5/15

[Owle Isohos]

Narrowly escaping being implanted with a bug after that disastrous trip to the bunker on Friday night. The desperate flight through the woods. Reaching the diner at last and asking other people if they'd been left to die, then telling them we could be left to die buddies together.

Watching Charlotte Walker rock at sudoku.

Seeing those creepy fly larva attached to people.

Giving scarily accurate tarot readings. In and out of character, I was not expecting that.

The Dusk Court party. Seeing Victor Jones show the fae how awesome she is. Sally's duel. Mingling with the servants. Watching the champions compete. Chatting with Slicewick before the party, and squirming cause I didn't know how he'd react to the name I'd given to the fomori. Hearing afterwards that other PCs have also taken to calling the fomori purple f**kers.

The Stargate mod. Everything about the Stargate mod. The hilarious conversations with the ESIs. Ending up in Marner's garage.

Story time with Rosie Kennigan.

That lovely evening stroll with Mr. Saturday. Realizing that Mr. Saturday remembered my name.

Nole, Nole's shop, and the shiny antique related to both sailors and the moon. Punching the darkness in the face. Red drinking all the delicious, delicious water. Hanging out with Red in general.

Little Bird.

Finding out exactly what that bit of remembered chanting meant. Roleplaying working through and dealing with the implications with all the PCs who helped me out with that.

Dropping two flies! This was the first time I've ever downed anything in combat, and it was immensely satisfying to go "Hey, buddy! 3 damage!"

Mr. Spade and where he led us. Lending Ed a pistol. Talking to Walter about baseball. "I was never very good at baseball. It turns out you're not supposed to hit people with the bat." "I think the rules for midnight snow baseball are a little different." "Yes. I think midnight snow baseball involves taking baseball equipment, going out in the snow at midnight, and doing whatever you feel like until you come to your senses."

Asking Sally Sailor Moon trivia to make sure it was really him.

Trying to convince Ethan he should wear a sheet and boots to the fae party.

I will admit, however, that thanks to John I may or may not have had the chance to use enhanced interrogation techniques this past weekend.

Or, you know, "I waterboarded a PC."

WAR. WAR NEVER CHANGES. But with the 14.99 bug zapper from Kohls, it's now 75% more fun!

Ahem. So, favorite moments:

The snap crackle and pop of blackflies.

Walking out to the moths, yelling "AVAUNT!" and activating the bug zapper. Then retreating inside.

Two seconds later being told the moths were "agitated and angry" because they could "Smell the death on you".

The trap mod. As usual, ya'll are magnificent bastards who perfectly predicted my thought patterns. And then blew me up.

Threatening various monsters with golf balls.

Hmm. In no particular order:

The whole hellgrinder Friday night, especially the realization that we were thoroughly fucked because we'd have to climb back up all of those floors through the bugs. The sheer satisfaction of the team mowing them down on the first floor to get outside and start fleeing towards the town.

Following a creepy trail out into the woods and catching the barest glimpse of Adam Campbell in the Sheriff's flashlight, Blair Witch-style, then hauling ass trying to chase him and the trail going cold. John and Matt, your cinematic skills were absolutely perfect in that moment.

Epic-level caster fights on the line Saturday night against the bugs. Trading acid blasts was never so much fun! (Thanks to everyone who played a caster bug, I had a lot of fun and hope you did too.)

Tiny adorable xenomorph babies all over the place! Once I got a good look at the parasites I realized they were way cuter than I thought.

Having the time right after lunch to take a glorious nap. I was SO GRATEFUL for that sleep after being up until 5am dealing with bugs and roleplaying and fallout from things and all that.

Getting a surprising amount of mileage out of a last-minute Book Club ritual where we didn't really have the right runes to do what we wanted. I was surprised and pleased that the Weight Watchers spell worked. Good job, team. <3

Realizing that the Husks were working for Bob Grey in the Sunday fight. "Whoa, the darkness guys are fighting for us! Oh, shit, the darkness guys are fighting for Bob Grey..."

The various moments when the Grimoire language comes up at times other than "Book Club is doing a ritual" always make me happy. I really like it when characters talk to us using it or it crops up in weird places, like with Kelsey's ritual or the moths. Super awesome.

Gil gunning down bugs in our cabin at 5am. I haven't been cabin raided in years. YEARS.

Alice hitting Amarak in the chest with "2 Damage by Dominance". Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

This event was pretty amazing. There were a ton of things that I loved.

Being in the elevator with Lou was pretty hilarious. "It is fine, we just have to make a line for the others." DING Door opens. "Oh my god oh my god!" Spams button to close the doors.

Intense surgery with Charlotte and the new doctor Victoria? I for get your name!

The chaos at dinner with Zinc, Ness, and my mother's intern.

And the best thing I did all weekend, saving little Suzie's cat from a tree. Even if I did bust up my arm.

There were so many other things...

Oof. This event was an intense one, but in a really awesome way and I expect that will reflect. Also some really small interactions felt especially meaningful this time around.

- Talking to Azeban and feeling Alice's unshakeable conviction suddenly waver and realizing that she had made a grievous error in judgement. Later speaking with Amarok and realizing exactly what that meant and the choice she had to make on the spot. The throwdown that followed.

- Rue surgerying Alice after.

- Dinnertime talks with Marner.

- Corvus's sassy walk.

- The Sat. Night Hellgrinder. Deciding to go anyways even though I knew that there was a decent chance I would get permed if I did. That horrific moment of realization as JD, last one off the elevator called out "BMV Agony to Townsfolk" and feeling like I was stuck in slow motion as I turned too slowly and watched him pulling the bug mask over his head. All of us the rest of us backing into the corner and watching more and more bugs come in. The moment of pure desperation as Alice realized to her dawning horror that they were all going to die down there unless someone came for them and no one knew to. Hearing that Billy had been dragged off. Spending an entire reset plus all of the consumables we had made or bought specifically for that fight in the span of the seven minutes we were down there. Watching Ed charge in off the elevator and hear his rousing 'Heal to Blue Collar by Inspiration!" only to realize with a sinking feeling that he was alone and that wouldn't be enough. Gabriel almost physically dragging Alice into the elevator to make her leave her friends behind while she cried and insisted she had to stay. It was really really awesome and heartwrenching.

- Scowling dubiously at MtG.

- Raver's wink and grin when she said "Don't worry, I gotchu. Take two and call me in the morning."

- Cabin raids! Also "Seven damage, Seven damage, Seven damage, Seven damage. Good night folks".

- Roleplaying an extreme crisis of Faith all weekend. Sally always knowing just the right thing to bolster Alice, even if he's just telling her what she wants to hear.

- That moment when three criminals decided it was a good idea to try to mug Gabriel, Alice, and Gil when they were asked to come along to the Sheriff's office.

- The Stargate mod. There's something about realizing as a Damaged that you're the sanest person in the room that makes a mod memorable. Ending up in Marner's garage and entertaining his dog with an old crinkled beer can.

- Pretty much every interaction with Chloe or Billy.

Just the fact that it was so nice out. Even with the bugs, the grass was green and warm and the temperature was comfortable. It felt really nice to not have infinity snow and cold and be out in the woods hitting friends with plumbing supplies Thanks for a great game everyone!

Acting as a judge of everyone's honor in the Dawn court trials alongside the dragon. Yes. I was actually judging all of you.

Finishing off a bug with fire breath to protect an injured Mike being dragged to safety.
"I breathed fire today..."

Watching Sally liquidate a member of the dusk court in an "honor" skirmish.

Nick's war with the bugs. Real or otherwise.

Palling it up with agent Levi.

Almost getting kidnapped, after which half the town chased down the guy before I promptly broke all of his limbs and set him on fire twice.

"HERNE, THERE'S A GIANT LIZARD CRAWLING UP THE HILL, YOU MAY WANT TO HANDLE THIS." ahahaaaa. dammit.

Spontaneous combustion.

Bob, oh Bob.

Gadget the rat is most adorable rat. Also I named her Gadget.

Having meaningful conversations with other players.

Spinny.

And most importantly: NOT DISLOCATING MY KNEE!

Bunker hell party part 1, electric bugaloo.

Talking with Dr. Cauldwell is always really nice.

Ezra and H.A. at the rave. I do love the Dance Commanders so very, very much.

The confusing cluster fuck that was the party on Saturday with a Mr. Spade. Maxwell is super confused about what's going on in his life right now and it is great. All he wanted was to help out with robot problems and now stuff has happened. It's wonderful.

Actually meeting Rattigan and discussing science.

The robot thing on Sunday, it was great.

John Henry explaining the internet to Davenport. This was probably the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time.

Hanging out with Victor, just being a legal adult because my ID says I am an adult.

Sally and his explanations about my wand. Also becoming a magical girl. The next event is Halloween and I have been researching transforming clothing...

Antiquing! The antiquities store always makes me really, really happy.

Late night conversations with Liberty.

[Amelia Casselman]

-Getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too close to a Reaper than was comfortable, especially after it chased off the White Lady.

-Dealing with bug!Leslie. Shooting him til he died, then mentally warring about deathstriking him or not. The after-effects of him slowly remembering what happened. (Bastard bug also covered me in bees! BAD LESLIE.)

-In an elevator with two other unconscious people and Melanie (at least she stabilized us first...) quietly, agonizingly, whispering “I'm so sorry” and inflicting all of us with Hunger.

-Corvus later cornering down Melanie with JD and Ness around, narrowing it down that she was the one that spread the Hunger so significantly, and the ensuing horror when she held up her fingers for how many she bit.

- “By my voice, expose...”
Nick: “Ahh!”
Amelia: *looks to Corvus* “I didn't hear it, what was it?”
Corvus: “Amarok.”
Amelia: “Oh.”
Amelia and Nick proceed to beeline it very fast for the cabin, leaving Corvus behind.

-Being incredibly paranoid that Ratigan was going to experiment/do something to the unconscious form of Leslie, who had a parasite attached to him. Waking Leslie up and being relieved that Ratigan just wanted to talk CHUDS.

-The newly named Gadget. “I was breathing in gas last.” Realizing who she had been before she was made a rat. Telling her that her group should start a cheese emporium and that'll probably have the other residents like them more.

-Moving the fire purification spell far away from the diner into the woods so that Flo wouldn't see, only to have Flo taking a nice nature walk by them. Thankfully they hadn't started the ritual yet. Everyone having a moment of “I can't believe that just happened.”

-Helping Zoey with her presentation, thinking Amelia might get the L7 if there was monetary compensation, then thinking it over for the next hour and actually deciding to get the nanites, anyway. Saved my butt a bunch.

-Getting dragged off by a fly and infected with a parasite (though as a “late bloomer” due to the lack of more props). Being the first that the doctors managed to save.

-So many strange and/or engaging conversations with PCs. Helped pass the time, too.

[Chloe]

No particular order:

-Getting Billy and JD's perspective on Shamanism, and helping me realize that Chloe's way is a bit divergent.

-Going through severe Rain withdrawal after getting my Sanity blasted to hell and back from a stint of being a Host. With special assistance by me being foolish and overdosing on pseudoephedrine. Oops. Lesson learned.

-Dawn King: "I won't be taking the field."
Chloe: *visibly pouts*

-Things Chloe May Not Hunt

-Getting cabin raided twice in one night. Can still combat roll out of bed at a moment's notice.

-Private yoga lessons with Alice.

-All the goofy cat stuff I did to pass the time or relieve tension.

-Hunting the moths and getting bodied for it. Worth it.

-Chloe is briefly a bloodhound.

-Getting to know JD, Billy, Alice and Gabriel better.
