Alice almost certainly doesn't play Magic: the Gathering, but I bet Gabriel might (lol) and we could bring some decks if people were interested

Commander or casual?
God, you guys are wonderful nerds.

Didn't you see the PSA? You'll end up summoning a DEMON with your black magic!!!!

We certainly have a good number already I think the odds are good...

Going to say Casual: playing for funsies, all cards are awesome, you walk out with what you brought in (so I'll just need me cards back when done, eh? )

I'll also pack some d20s and counters, since I learned last time from the Professor that those things are pretty awesome to have on hand.
Commander or casual?
To clarify: Kat is asking whether or not people would like to play with decks built for the Commander format, a multiplayer-focused format of 99-card decks with a legendary creature that serves as "commander" and determines which cards you can play, or just the usual sort of 60-card decks built from whatever you bring (that is to say, "casual"). I think nobody is of the opinion that we should play for ante, haha.

If people have Commander decks, we have a bunch we can bring, though Gabriel is way more likely to want to play than Alice (but he's still not a nerd, we swear).

[Madrigus]

Next time I'm in Whisper Hill I'll have to try to remember to bring a few of my decks. I prefer casual format, but I have a Commander deck that nobody will want to play against.

Also, nobody can borrow my decks. This isn't personal, it's just that anyone (save for my wife) who's used my decks has always lost. It's not a complexity issue; my cards just really hate people who aren't me, and I don't want to ruin anyone's good time.

I have an idea for a mod...

Iiiiii hope I don't miss it.

Anyone any good with those "Make your own Magic card" programs? I'd like to see a "Penance" card. It should tap to stab "Redneck Marine", usable multiple times per turn

[Owle Isohos]

No, but I've heard that if you take nail polish remover to a foil card (one that's not worth anything, like a land) then print out your card design on a sheet of transparent paper and glue it on, you can make a very nice foil proxy.*

In other news, I have a deck now. It's not a good deck, but I have one. I also found one of those promo Garruk Wildspeaker decks they were handing out as goodies at PAX East that one year. The deck I made is 40 cards, cause that's what I'm used to doing in drafts. The promo deck is 30. I'm not sure why.

*Kelsey in no way condones anything that adds to Sally's trauma. Lauren just thinks foil cards are shiny and wants to enable people to make their own.

[Madrigus]

Actual decks are 60 cards. Promos are 30 so that you can use boosters to get them to 40 for drafts/ tests and 60 for actual play.

Also:

Penance (3RRRB)

Legendary Creature- Spirit

[tap] Tap target creature and put a terror counter on it. Penance deals damage equal to its power to that target. That creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.

Penance's power is equal to the number of creatures with terror counters on them.

Penance may not be blocked by creatures with terror counters on them.
