I am looking to make a nifty System costume with the EL stuff, but I have only a vague idea of where to get materials, any suggests?

You can get regular EL wire just about anywhere online. Amazon sells it as well if you have a Prime account and want to save on shipping.
For fancy stuff you can go to here.

You need a driver like this to run them.

Also look for rave led gloves on Amazon. The gloves suck, but it's really easy to take out the components from the gloves and attach them to your own set of gloves.
