So after some semi-extensive beta testing, I'm happy to announce the more public release of the Hacker app.

Those interested in playing a hacker, head here to download the app and get it set up:


Thanks to testing, we've found that it should run on devices running anything as low as Android v2.2 (Froyo) which launched in May 2010, so if you have anything newer than that, you should be golden.

We're doing some content pop for the hacking nodes planned for AD1 so before you leave for the event, please launch the app, go to Settings and press "Sync Data" to ensure you have all the content you'll need for the event. If you have any questions about this or anything about the app, feel free to PM me.

Is there going to be a way for people who do not have an Android device to do hacking?

Picked up one of those cheap knock-offs for hacking. It says it's running version 4.04. Whenever I click on scan device I get a pop up box that says Hacker Terminal has stopped.

Hi,

I downloaded the Hacker app and I get to the Simon part--it keeps giving me the same test over and over, without advancing.

Am I missing something? Is there a new version of the app? I downloaded it from the link in the first post.

Hey Adria,

Is there a progress bar at the top? At average speed, you probably need to play about five rounds to get it to unlock. There will be a new version that I was gonna email out to the hackers tomorrow.

Just in case, what version of Android are you running? As I said, it's hard to find anything running something earlier than 2.2, but it might happen.
