Quick question on one of the rules, or rather an idea that I had for a skill that would have to be approved. If I carried around a cot, could I use it as a "table" as per the skill "Under the knife"?

You may use a portable cot provided it is lit with glowsticks so that people do not trip over it on poor lighting conditions.

So, one thing I didn't notice in the rulebook, is there a limit to how many thrown weapons one person can carry at one time?

Not as of yet, but I wouldn't abuse the situation if I were you.

This wasn't meant to target anyone on this thread... I just want people to be aware of how I personally feel about running a LARP.

And, as this is the Rules discussion, I figured I'd make a statement: Rules are very easy to write.

We acknowledge there are some mechanics in the rules that are open to abuse. We haven't closed them, mostly because we didn't want to limit the mechanic. We haven't wanted to write an airtight rulebook, and are relying on player trust/people being adults. This lends itself to the model of the LARP being a community of trust. We trust you'll take your hits and play the game honestly. You trust that we want to run a quality game that will entertain you.

It comes down to the "Don't be a jerk." axiom I insist on enforcing in all the games I've been in a position to influence. Be courteous to one another and understand that a LARP isn't about powergaming or being uber, but being involved in a collaborative story with potentially a hundred other people.

That being said, rules are very easy to write. PCs who abuse mechanics with stats can easily be killed and the player can have his CP refunded (or if it's a significant enough breach of trust, be asked to leave). We can add a ton of needless rules to the rulebook to close every loop hole. We have a detail oriented staff who could, if we thought it was necessary.

But, that's not the sort of game I want to run, and it's not the sort of community I want to be involved in. So, when looking at the rulebook, statting PCs and playing in general, remember the simple "Don't be a Jerk" rule and we should be all set.

I have a new question!

Looking over the shaman skills and I want to be sure I read this one correctly.

"Lesser Propitiations "

Shaman are capable of making deals with spirits. By lending aid or power now, the shaman can call in the favor in a little while. You may spend A, E, F, or W to appease a spirit while spending 1 minute performing a rite. After your next reset, you may refresh a point of A, E, F, or W after spending 1 minute calling on the spirit for help. You may not regain more than 1 of any given attribute this way during any given reset

Question 1 - Do you have to regain the same attribute that you spend?
i.e. If I spent an A to activate the skill, when I refresh, I can only refresh a point of A?

Question 2 - Can you only use this skill once per reset? or once for each of the attributes listed per reset?
i.e. Can you only sacrifice one A and then get one A back after a reset, or could you sacrifice one A, then use the skill again, sacrifice one E, use the skill again, sacrifice one F. Then after the next reset, use the skill three separate times, getting one point back each time, but only one of each attribute?
It's the sentence "You may not regain more than 1 of any given attribute this way during any given reset" that throws me. I can read this to mean either.

I personally think it means the first, but I'd rather clarify it. If I can misconstrue it, others could too

And an unrelated question
The Scientist specialization has the skill "SCIENCE!" which allows you to imbue a thrown item with elemental type damage.
The only problem is that scientists don't get the thrown weapon skill?

1) You may use lesser propitiations 4 times per reset. You may refresh an attribute different from the attribute you spent BUT you may only refresh a given attribute once. So yes, you can turn A to F...but that's it for F until you reset.

2) The Imbue grants you the ability to use that particular thrown weapon (until the skill wears off). You can't use knives or grenades or anything else, but your one secret weapon? Well that's just Science.
