At the Psychiatry Box

After sequestering himself away in the cabin he's been living in and only rushing out to the local post office to pick up packages of texts he asked his secretary....er sorry, personal assistant back at Yale to send him, The Professor finally sits down at his "office" in the backroom of the diner.
On the box in front of him, he presents the final translation of the broken up tablet we found in the "archeological dig". When asked why it took so long, he explains that the language was an obscure dialect that took considerable ingenuity to decipher correctly.

Posted copy reads
"Great Chief

It is with much sadness that I must tell you your daughter has joined the spirits of our ancestors.

Two moons ago Swift Deer took sick. Even our most powerful wisefolk could do nothing. Know that in her last days she wanted for nothing. She was given all honors due her station.

We have heard of your troubles with Stiff Legged Bear. Unfortunately, our duties preclude us from sending you the skull. Nonetheless we are sending a number of braves to your aid. They should reach you shortly after this message.

I set these words in stone to show the weight I give them."

This was found near steel arrowheads in a strata of rock that was well before any such metals were created in Europe and never existed in the Americas.
Also a strange skull was found near them, and I was able to examine it. Once I find my notes, I'll post what I found out about that. It was a child's skull used in dark magic rituals, if I remember correctly.
I advised the person who had it that they should return it, but he seemed strangely possessive of it and I doubt he did.

Sally cocks his head as he reads over the photocopy, then looks to the Professor and says,

"You gotta be shittin' me, right? An-achron-isitcal metals and freaky skulls?"

Sally looks to the photocopy, then towards the HISTORICAL FICTION SOCIETY board.

"You gotta 'nother copy a this, Professor?"
