On page <spaces on citation> of the OR rulebook it says that darts are essentially treated like packets--they blow through physical shields, count as hits if they hit weapons, etc. As such, if the projectile physically leaves the gun (even in a woefully inadequate manner), the attribute is considered spent regardless of whether it hits or not.

"Missiles" as listed in the core book generally refers to Arrows and Thrown Weapons.

Question from a maybe soon player,

the gunslinger ability of Quick draw, "Once per Session you may call “By My Voice,
Short Paralyze by Speed and Short Root to Self.” Until you rest off
the Root, the only skills you may use are those related to shooting
firearms (E.g. Use Handgun, Marksmanship, Called Shot, etc.).
Basically, you can shoot. You cannot move around, you cannot
use called defenses, you cannot heal, etc. But you can shoot. A
lot."

this seems like a big limitation. what exactly is the benefit? is this implying that shooting no longer requires a stat or firearms like stats?

The important part is the short paralyze by speed, "By my voice". It basically paralyzes everyone in place that hears it.
Then you get to shoot standing targets. The short root on self is to keep people from going melee. It's meant as a Matrix type bullet time, when you move so fast everyone else seems to be standing still

I have been considering PCing next year & had a couple of questions. I am likely going to play a Bound/ Soldier or perhaps a Protean/ Soldier. If I go with Bound is it possible to use a color other than red for the make-up/ prosthetic? I ask mainly because I have a set or pointed ears, forehead piece with horns, wings & demonic tail in Blue already. I'd hate to have to buy & remake all of those items. 2nd, you state there are no battery op Nerf guns allowed but also have the Rayven listed as an exceptable Nerf blaster. Is the Rayven an exception to the rule since it's semi auto only? Lastly the Viral weaponry ranged rep for the Protean. Since it is required to be boffersafe but not used as a striking weapon does it qualify as a Claw buckler? Thanks.

Hello, Garrett and welcome aboard!

To answer your questions:

1) We'd have to see the gear you're talking about (photos are your friend) before making a binding decision. Generally, though, and to the chagrin of colorblind larpers everywhere, color often makes a difference in this sort of thing. Red veins? Probably Protean. Green veins? Probably Rappaccinian. So blue demon...? We'd have to see.

2) The Rayven is a mistaken listing. And for anyone reading this: no, the Magnus is not to be used by PCs as a standard pistol.

3) A ranged viral weapon does not count as a buckler. At present you may block with it as a normal claw, but it would still count as a target if struck by appropriate effects.

The 1st 2 yes but the 3rd is a bit misleading. Being able to block with a natural weapon but not strike & still call it a claw weapon could lead to confusion. You may want to add the explanation that it works like a bow rep more than a claw. HMM bow shaped Viral ranged rep. That could work.
