Roight, then.

1) Called damage renders you unstable if it removes the last of your vitality. "Waste Vitality" would be the "uncalled" version. "Waste 1 Vitality" will drop you to unstable.

2) Due to the wording of the skills in the Damaged, it doesn't matter who sticks the needle in your arm--any effect with the Medicine trait will trigger a refusal/short frenzy. So you cannot voluntarily Medicine yourself, and if you somehow have to, you'll immediately start banging your head against the nearest wall and clawing your own eyes out.

3) Lone wolf can be taken by Damaged--congrats, you've now built a character with the life expectancy of a gnat.

4) It shouldn't and can't be done. The part you're missing is "You may call "Waste 1 Vitality to Self" in place of spending an attribute point when using a skill listed under the Damaged. You cannot use Sins of the Flesh to power a Claviger skill.

I think we're caught up now...

This does close the exploit I saw with Sins of the Flesh from Damaged, and skills such as "Health Plan" from Suit. In short, it would let you Waste Vitality to power your Damaged skills, and then use a Heal 2 to Self by Medicine to recover it without paying a cost.

Thanks for closing that exploit!

Continuing on with the questions.

Now the rules for Sins of the Flesh state: "You must refuse all healing effects by Medicine if you are conscious, and you are very reluctant to allow other forms of healing. If someone delivers any effect by Medicine and you end up conscious afterwards, you also take a Short Frenzy effect which you cannot resist or use any defense against, granted or otherwise. The initial target of your Frenzy will always be the person who used the Medicine effect on you, if you can tell who they were."

Does that mean the Damaged will Short Frenzy if they are effected by any Medicine effect? What happens to a Damaged if they hear this: ""By My Voice, Expose Unstable by Medicine?" Or, even stranger, something like "1 Damage by Medicine?"

To be fair, you could build a Damaged with Lone Wolf and manage to survive. You just would be better off doing your best to not take damage.

Does it still count as taking an effect if you're not Unstable when you hear "By My Voice, Expose Unstable by Medicine"?

My guess is that if you're not Unstable, you don't take the effect, so a Damaged who was Stable upon hearing that call would not Frenzy. Otherwise, us EMTs are going to have a lot of Frenzied Damaged running after us when we try to do triage.

If the damaged does not become stable and at at least 1 point of vitality (and is not stunned or paralyzed) as a result of a medicine call, then s/he won't be able to frenzy, let alone anything else. So if they're bleeding to death on the field you can expose by medicine all you want and only be greeted by the sound of you needing to do your job faster.
