While we are willing to hit you in the eye with anything once, we advise you to bring a standard boffer weapon as a backup. I personally have yet to see a latex weapon I'd feel comfortable getting stabbed with, and I've seen at least one latex wrench that was just begging to take out somebody's eyes. Plural. (I'm using "latex" as a general term for a type of weapon which puts "realism" over "safety." But then, I'm the guy who organizes insurance for this whole shindig.).
Regarding guns: if at all possible, please have your guns at least base coated in something. We do try to run an relatively immersive game, and while "this hear nerf gun is black" is serviceable, "this hear neon toy" kinda hampers the illusion, if you understand. So--if there's absolutely no way to make it happen, we won't light you on fire, but I've seen some impressive last minute coverups using duct tape and blood.
