I had a question about the tech stuff that was shown at the fundraiser.

Is it the exclusive domain of the Hacker header and its specializations, or would someone who had say terminal use be able do a good portion of what was explained.

Basically what I am asking is what skill(s) allow one to play with the nifty systems the tech guys have been setting up? :D

So, here's how it breaks down:
Everybody can use the tavern computer for inventory management and crafting (as skills apply)

Anyone with Computer Use will be able to use props tagged thusly, but these will be more akin to info packets next to a monitor.

Anyone with Terminal Use is able to use the handheld app to hack nodes and will have access to advanced functions of the tavern computer.

If you had a question about a specific aspect of the tech that I missed, feel free to PM me. I enjoy a good nerd out over tech. We'll talk about memory, CPUs, and RAM ( memory is RAM)

With the new Beta release of the rulebook, I have a few questions.

1. There was a comment made in an earlier thread, but no specific mention of it in the updated rulebook: Do research pool points and/or production points accumulate if they are not spent? (ie. If I have a paranormal research pool of 3 and decide to ask 1 question and spend 1 point after the first event, do I then have 5 points of research I can use for the second event?)
If yes to the accumulation question, is there a limit on how many people can have/how long they last?[/list:u]

2. Is the Beta rulebook likely to be the one in use for the 2 One Days?

3. I just to make sure that I'm reading everything correctly, if your character permanently shuffles off the mortal coil, you are an NPC for the remainder of the event (barring wonkiness of plot things [which let's face it is entirely possible/likely]).

1) Crafting points accumulate, research points do not. You can always have larger piles of stuff to build stuff out of, you can't make more hours in the day to read books and scour the System.

2) Yes, the Beta book is the book that will be used for the one days.

3) Technically all we said is "You can't PC the rest of the event if you just permed." We are not promising anyone a place as an NPC, though chances are that's how it would shake out. Also, and for the record:

Occam's Razor does not support the usage of "Alt" characters. You make a PC and you play that PC until she dies or until you retire her. This point is made due to a thread of conversation most people on the boards have not seen.

Alrighty, good to have those things cleared up.

I am assuming this includes Strain 117 that could be permed 10 minutes after game has started. As such even if they have their backup character OK'd by staff and have all their costuming they wouldn't be able to walk on scene as a PC until the next event, correct?

That would be correct. As has come up in other conversations, we've worked hard to have interesting races that appeal to a number of different play styles--Strain 117 and Bound being "one amazing shot, and you're out" type races. The Bound could also technically potentially report to Monster Camp within 15 minutes of game start. These are built-in downsides to characters who can become very powerful and are in keeping with the spirit of the races as they've been written.

That being true, we're here to provide our players with a fun game! We hope that our mature player base will also not be seeking to ruin their fellow players' fun by trying to perm them in the first 10 minutes. Remember, player death doesn't just effect the dead player, but the whole game. And that may well entail consequences... ;)
